Closer ties to connect ends of the Silk Road

Italy is dedicated to becoming part of China's Belt and Road initiative and is hoping to expand the role in it, said Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova during the Global Conference of the Bocconi Alumni Association held in Shanghai today.

"We see huge potential of this initiative. That is why Italy is among the first to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank," said Vedova.

"Italy has good business relationship with the European countries and those in the Middle East and Africa. We can be a partner with China to offer added value," said Vedova.

He suggested increasing person-to-person connection between the two countries.

The conference is an international event that the Bocconi Alumni Association organizes each year in a city between Asia, Europe and the Americas to rally its members.

President of Bocconi Mario Monti attended the event, along with Italian Ambassador to China Ettore Sequi, President and CEO of Gucci Marco Bizzarri and Ren Jianxin, chairman of China National Chemical Corp.
