Closer business relationship between China and Japan's Kansai region

Japan plans to establish a regular business exchange mechanism between China and Japan's Kansai region, country's second largest economic zone, to deepen bilateral economic ties, the Kansai Economic Federation said today.

The first gathering under the mechanism will be held in Beijing together with China-Japan Friendship Association on July 14. A total 40 high-level Chinese and Japanese business executives will join the discussion, the federation said.

The federation, also known as Kankeiren, is a chief lobby group based in the Kansai region that represents 1,400 Japanese businesses including country's second largest utility Kansai Electric Power Co and air-conditioner maker Daikin Industries.

Masayuki Matsushita, vice chairman of the Kankeiren and vice chairman of Japan's Panasonic Co, said the China-Japan entrepreneurs exchange is the first attempt for the federation to send regular business delegation to China.

"Kansai region has deep relationship with Asian countries. We want to put focus on non-governmental exchanges, build relationships with Chinese companies to find solutions on talents nurturing and business chances under a global economic environment," Matsushita said.

The June 14 visit will be the first summit-level talks held between Kankeiren and China in two years.
