AmCham announces corporate social responsibility awards

The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai today announced the winners of its 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, a bid to recognize and encourage companies to help the communities they serve.

PricewaterhouseCoopers China won the Chamber's Leadership Award for its broad range of social initiatives including long-term partnerships with NGOs to support rural and migrant schools. The company was also recognized for encouraging its employees to use their various skills to volunteer in community activities.

Other winners included Philips China, which received the Innovation Award for creating a simple program for community self-sustainability. The program helped reduce child malnutrition by nearly 50 percent in the areas where it was implemented.

It marked the ninth time AmCham Shanghai handed out the awards.
