Firefighters put out a fire in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province. The fire broke out in the nine-story Yuanxiang Building in the Hanzhengjie Wholesale Market at 9:30am yesterday. At least 10 people were injured.

AT least 10 people were injured in a fire at a mixed commercial-residential building in downtown Wuhan City in central China's Hubei Province yesterday.

Doctors from the Wuhan No. 1 Hospital said they had received 10 injured people as of 3pm. One person is in critical condition.

Most of the injured suffered from smoke inhalation. It is still unknown whether there were any fatalities.

The fire broke out in a plastic products warehouse on the second floor of a nine-story wholesale market at about 9:50am.

More than 800 fire fighters and 79 fire engines were dispatched and the fire was put out at 11pm.

The ground, second and third floors are business area for stores. The rest of the building is residential, with more than 200 families living there. There is a kindergarten on the fourth floor. More than 300 occupants were evacuated.
