Couple jailed over son's death

The Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court yesterday sentenced Shan Rongxia to 11 years in prison for assault. Her 4-year-old son died after she kicked him. Her husband, Qi Hua, was given seven months for helping destroy evidence.
Shan, 25, an Anhui Province native, ordered her son to kneel on the ground for 11 hours on May 29 after the boy wet his bed. Because the boy urinated again during that time, Shan kicked him in the back. The boy died that night and Qi helped Shan dispose of the body.
