Girl hurt fleeing prostitution

A 15-YEAR-OLD Shaanxi Province girl broke her back when she jumped from a second-story bedroom to escape a life of forced prostitution.
The girl is now awaiting surgery, according to Xinmin Evening News.
Police have arrested a woman who allegedly lured the girl into prostitution.
The girl said she had been working in Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, in November when a friend introduced her to a woman surnamed Chen. Chen promised to find her a better job but did not say exactly what the job would be.
Because the girl had no money and had lost her cell phone, she agreed to let Chen take her to Shanghai.
Chen told the girl she would be able to earn more than 1,000 yuan (US$146) a month and would be allowed to go home after working half a year.
The girl eventually agreed to accept the job and was taken to a house in Jiading District early this month.
In the house, three other girls, all aged under 20, told her that the work was prostitution.
The girl wanted to escape, but she was kept under lock and key. Chen said that she would be beaten to death and thrown into the river if she tried to escape.
Last Tuesday, the girl was taken to a hair salon. She and another girl surnamed Liu were forced to sit and wait for clients. A middle-aged man arrived and the 15-year-old was forced to have sex with him.
That night, she and Liu were left to sleep in a room on the second-floor. The 15-year-old suggested they jump out of the window because there was a guard at the door.
Early the following morning, Liu jumped and landed safely. The 15-year-old jumped too but was injured when she landed. The girls managed to get to a nearby police station and ask for help.
