Liu Jun, 39, was caught trafficking 329 grams of the drug ice, a "gun of destruction" and four bullets, the Shanghai Railway Transport Intermediate People's Court said. Liu comes from Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province, one of the most badly hit areas by the May 12 earthquake. Liu, who was jailed for four years in 1999 for embezzlement, told the court that he thought it was a good chance to traffic drugs because the nation was focused on the earthquake and helping the survivors. On June 4, Liu took drugs, the gun and bullets on to a train from Chengdu to Shanghai with two companions, the court said. Before the train arrived in Shanghai two days later, Liu passed an iron box in which he kept the drugs and bullets and a yellow bag containing drugs and the gun to one of the companions, surnamed Hong. Hong was checked by police at the exit and drugs and gun were discovered. Hong told police they were given to him by Liu. Police caught Liu on the night of June 6.
