The Shanghai South Railway Station is the city's second major passenger rail station and includes a long-distance bus station and several bus terminals. It has been in use since 2006 but there have been complaints about the facilities, especially about the lack of information booths or signs around the station as well as a lack of bike parking and toilets and difficulties getting taxis. The South Railway Station Management Committee said it is joining the District Construction Commission and experts from engineering colleges to complete the face-lift program. Two new toilets are being built ?? one inside the ticketing hall on the north square of the station with the other on the south square. Each will cover an area of 80 square meters. Both will open before the Spring Festival rail rush in January. Copyright © 2001-2009 Shanghai Daily Publishing House |
