Evaluation center completed

WUXI AppTec Co has completed its new safety evaluation center, the largest in Asia. The 30,000-square-meter facility, which cost about US$40 million, is the first phase of its Good Laboratory Practice center in Wuzhong District, Suzhou.
The Suzhou subsidiary of Wuxi AppTec will focus on providing international pharmaceutical companies with non-clinical research evaluation services as well as carrying out toxicology studies.
The Shanghai-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology company has research facilities in three cities in the United States and three cities in China. The new facility in Suzhou will start operating in February.
Formerly named Wuxi Pharmatech (Cayman) Inc, Wuxi AppTec acquired US-based AppTec Laboratory Services Inc for US$150 million in January this year. Its third-quarter net revenue surged 96 percent from the same period last year.
