Chen Yunlin, president of mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait, will lead a delegation to Taiwan from today until Friday. It will be the first meeting between the two organizations held on the island. At a press conference held in Taipei on Saturday, SEF Chairman Chiang Pin-kung and other senior officials unveiled the schedule. The mainland delegation will arrive at Taoyuan Airport at noon, according to the schedule. Chen will visit the widow of Koo Chen-fu, the former SEF chairman who died in 2005. Official talks between leaders of the SEF and the ARATS will be held tomorrow morning. The two groups will sign pacts in the afternoon and hold press conferences. After the talks, Chen will meet political leaders on the island, including the ruling party Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung, KMT Honorary Chairman Lien Chan, Mainland Affairs Council Chair Lai Shin-yuan and People First Party Chairman James Soong tomorrow and on Wednesday. On the fourth day, officials from the two sides will attend a ceremony where the mainland will present two giant pandas and rare plants to Taiwan, while Taiwan side will present rare animals to the mainland.
