Earthquake rocks sea

A major earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted the sea off the east coast of Honshu in Japan at 10:39am yesterday, according to the China Earthquake Administration.
The epicenter was located at 37.5 degrees north latitude and 142.3 degrees east longitude, said the administration.
There were no initial reports of damage. Last night, Japan's Meteorological Agency lifted the tsunami warning it had earlier issued for northeastern Japan.
Tokyo Electric Power Co and Tohoku Electric Power officials said nuclear power facilities in the area were unharmed and were continuing to operate as usual.
