A LIST of items prohibited in Olympic venues and rules for spectators have been included in a guide issued by the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee today.

The rules, valid from August 1 to September 17, ban spectators from taking lighters, knives, drinks, food, musical instruments, glass cups, long umbrellas, skateboards, roller skates, bats, unauthorized walkie talkies, laser facilities, loudspeakers and radios into any venue, China News Service reported today.

Flags and flagpoles that are more than one meter wide and two meters long as well as any banners and leaflets are also on the list, the report said.

Animals, except guide dogs, are not allowed while only baby trolleys and wheelchairs can be admitted, the rules say.

Audiences are also required not to wear company clothes to deliberately demonstrate the firms' logos or images. Deliveries of free products and fundraising are not permitted.

Guns, ammunitions, crossbows, daggers and goods considered flammable, caustic or radioactive are also banned.

The guide also said that acts such as gambling, parades, sit-ins, protests and naked runs inside the venues would be in violation of Chinese laws.
