The price of the Euro V diesel has risen 26 percent to HK$11.76 (US$1.51) per liter last Thursday from the start of December, the city's Transport and Housing Bureau said in a paper submitted to the Legislative Council dated yesterday. The local government "is prepared to exempt the duty" as soon as possible to help alleviate the impact on the transport industry, the paper said. It will not cut the tax on a cheaper and higher-emission diesel, it said. Copyright © 2001-2009 Shanghai Daily Publishing House |
