RAINSTORMS are expected to hit the city this afternoon and tomorrow, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

Labor Daily reported that a subtropical high was moving west and causing heavy rainfall. The bureau reminded people to be aware of the bad weather and take an umbrella when going out.

Today's high will be 25 degrees Celsius.

Early morning fog canceled ferries around Chongming, Changxing and Hengsha Islands today, the report said.

Since June 7, when the city entered the annual Plum Rain season, Jinshan District has received the most rainfall at 226.3 millimeters while Xujiahui had recorded 164.9 millimeters of rain during the period.

The rain belt will move to the Huaihe River Basin in the next 3 to 5 days and dump rain on the city frequently. The temperature is expected to rise to 31 to 33 degrees. Residents will feel hotter as the humidity is expected to rise, the report said.
