MAINLAND tourism industry professionals will set out on a 10-day inspection of Taiwan today after accepting an invitation by the Taiwan Strait Traveling and Tourism Association, according to People.com.cn.

The 39-member team consists of officials from travel agencies who have been authorized to accept applications by mainland residents to travel to the island. The team will visit scenic spots and hotels, as well as work out details of future cooperation with their Taiwan counterparts, the report said.

The leader of the group is Fan Guishan, vice secretary of the Cross-Strait Tourism Association, the report said.

Thirty-three mainland travel agencies have been authorized to organize tours to Taiwan. The first travel group will set out on July 4 and the tourism policy will officially come into force on July 18.
