HANOI, July 23 (Xinhua) -- After taking the position as Chairman of Vietnam's 13th National Assembly, Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung presented a statement here Saturday in which he nominated Truong Tan Sang, permanent member of the Party Secretariat as Vietnamese State President for the 2011-2016 tenure.

Sang, 62 years old, was born in My Hanh commune, Duc Hoa district, southern Long An province and a bachelor of law. In 1991, when 42 years old, he was elected member of the Party's Central Committee, 7th Congress. In the consecutive 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th congresses, he was member of the Politburo.

Like current President Nguyen Minh Triet, Sang was Party Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City's Party Committee. He also held the positions of Head of the Central Economics Committee and permanent member of the Party Secretariat.

As scheduled, on July 25, after the National Assembly deputies discussed and cast their votes, the newly-elected State President will assume the position.
