Man shot for threatening riders with knife

A man was shot injured by Shanghai police when he tried to attack passers-by with a knife in hand around noon today.

The man intercepted vehicles and knocked the windows of cars passing by with the knife when he walked along the Yan’an Elevated Road at about 11:10am today.

Then he tried to attack people with the knife. Police shot him in time and controlled him before he caused any injuries. He was shot in his leg.

The attacker has been sent to the hospital.

The case is still under investigation.
