Clear sunny weather for festival week

After the deluge last week, the city can expect a week of pleasant weather with sunny skies and a temperature tipped to stay below 30 degrees for most of the time, forecasters said yesterday.

Yesterday’s high was recorded at 30.8 degrees Celsius at the Xujiahui observatory.

In suburban areas, the temperature was the highest in Minhang District at 32.1 degrees. It will be sunny and cloudy today because of high atmospheric pressure with the temperature ranging between 31 and 24 degrees Celsius, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

“People will feel more comfortable due to the dominance of northeast wind and easterly wind,” according to Kong Chunyan, a chief service officer at the bureau.

The mercury should drop slightly tomorrow and the high is expected to hover around 29 degrees from tomorrow until Friday.

The first two days of the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival from Thursday to Saturday will be cloudy, and the temperature will range between a high of 29 degrees and a low of 24.

But it was still too early to predict if the residents will be able to get a clear view of the moon, supposed to be at its brightest during the festival.
