Western stretch of Metro Line 13 opening soon
SHANGHAI Metro operator is testing trains on the western section of Metro Line 13, which will go into service by the end of this month, Metro officials said today.
People in suburban Jiading District can take the line to Jinshajiang Road Station for transfer to Line 3 and Line 4 to go to downtown.
The operator will open five stations along the new line first. Two more stations will be put to use next year.
By the end of 2014, Metro Line 13 is expected to reach downtown Shanghai and intersect Line 2 and Line 12 at West Nanjing Road Station.
A small section of Metro Line 13 with three stops in the former World Expo site was put to use in 2010 to serve Expo visitors and was closed afterwards.
