'Dream Journey' tops poll for design of Shanghai's Disneyland Metro station

A BLUE theme-colored project named "Dream Journey" won a poll overwhelmingly to become the most popular solution to the decoration of the Metro station that serves Shanghai Disneyland, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2015.

A total of 49.9 percent of the 27,659 voters favored "Dream Journey," which led the poll since early in the month. It had collected 13,789 votes by Sunday midnight. The second-ranking project got 6,923 votes, 25 percent of the total. Other four candidates collected 9.7, 9.1, 5.1 and 1.3 percent of the votes, respectively.

According to the organizer, 74 percent of the participants are from Shanghai. Netizens from 22 overseas countries and regions also took part in the poll, including those from the US, Britain, Australia, Germany and Russia.

"Dream Journey" highlights fantasy elements like twinkling lights and Mickey Mouse's distinctive silhouette, together with a service center designed in the shape of a pumpkin.

The Shanghai Shentong Metro Group subway operator, the organizer of the poll, said the construction of the Disneyland Metro station will be based on "Dream Journey," while taking inspiring elements from other projects into consideration.

Changes will be made to meet requirements for practical use and safety reasons, after consultation with experts.

One-hundred people who voted for "Dream Journey" will receive a gift worth 300 yuan (US$49), while another 100 participants who voted for other projects will receive a gift worth 100 yuan, organizers said. The award winning list will be announced on November 26.
