One-fifth of Chinese women major bread earner of their families

Nearly 20 percent of Chinese women became the major economic contributor in their family as they climbed to higher career positions, a new report shows.
In Shanghai, as much as 27 percent of the female respondents said they were the major economic contributor, according to the "China Top Lady Survey," released by market research firm CTR.
In the 10 years between 2003 to 2013, women's average income grew 3.4 times.
At the same time, more high-income females reported more pressure in handling family relationship.
The report shows that 49 percent of women with monthly income of less than 30,000 yuan (US$4,839) reported their biggest pressure coming from career development and a heavy workload, while those with income of more than 30,000 yuan said more pressure is coming from handling family relationship.
The survey includes 4,000 women between the ages of 20 to 50 in eight cities.
