Clive Palmer's legal challenge an 'affront to justice'

A Supreme Court judge has dismissed a legal challenge by Clive Palmer, saying that if it went ahead, it would be an "affront to justice".

The businessman launched court action earlier this year as administrators were seeking to claw back more than $300 million owed to creditors after the collapse of Queensland Nickel.

Mr Palmer's other companies QNI Resources, QNI Metals and Queensland Nickel Sales were attempting to have assets owned by failed company Queensland Nickel transferred over to them.

But the Supreme Court today dismissed the application.

In his ruling Justice John Bond said there was not enough merit to the case in its current form.

Justice Bond said that in deciding such applications the court was concerned about protecting companies in liquidation from being harassed by unnecessary litigation.

Mr Palmer was recently questioned in the Federal Court in Brisbane over the collapse of the Townsville refinery.

Liquidators still want to question his nephew and former QNI manager Clive Mensink over the company's failure.
