Wrap up as winter arrives in Shanghai
SHANGHAI meteorologically entered winter last Wednesday as the city has experienced five straight days with average temperature under 10 degrees centigrade, the meteorological administration said yesterday.
Though yesterday was warmer and sunny with the highest temperature between 12 and 14 degrees centigrade in different areas of the city, the average was also below 10 degrees, marking last Wednesday as the start of winter, said the administration.
Shanghai has seen a relatively short autumn this year, being 15 days shorter than the average length of 61.3 days.
Today will be sunny but cloudy at times. The temperature will be similar to yesterday’s with the lowest around 7 degrees centigrade and highest around 13, said forecasters, adding the slight haze is also likely to disperse in the morning.
The weather will be mainly cloudy this week and light rain is also likely on Wednesday under the influence of eastward-moving rainy clouds.
The temperature will fluctuate between 7 and 16 degrees this week.
